The Best Types And Colors Of Paint For A Shed

Category : Structures

By Andre Paul B. Reynolds

Do you have an old shed or garage that needs refurbishment? Do you want to repaint your shed but you do not know what shade of paint to choose? If you want to know how to repaint your garage, read on and consider tips mentioned below.

If you love to redecorate and to renovate your home, you should not forget to refurbish your garage because it is the most untreated area of your home. In some homes, their garage is usually the entrance to your house. In the said scenario, you should be ashamed if your garage is messy, thus, it is must for you to include your shed in your refurbishment plans.

It is the most overlooked, neglected, unpainted and dirty part of your house. Since it is part of your home, you should make it user friendly and conducive.

To avoid costly renovation, you can opt for organizing its content and repainting it to give it a clean finish. Before you start your task, you should first choose the right type and shade of paint for your garage. Choose shade that complements with the color of your house. Since your garage is just adjacent to your house, it is best to select the same color. Choose type of paint that can last long to avoid repainting several times and opt for paint that can withstand wind, rain, sunlight and extreme temperature.

Before you start your task, you should first clean and empty the shed. Remove all the clutter, dust and spider webs and make sure that the room is very clean to ensure that paint will stick on the wall. Wipe off dust and dirt on the floor by using broom and wet mop. You can apply cleaning detergent or power washer to get the desired cleanliness you desired. Once cleaning is done, make sure to dry excess wet areas inside the garage before painting.

If the garage is used in storing mechanical equipment, choose darker shade of paint, otherwise you can select any shade of paint that complements with the theme of the house. You can also paint the garage floor and ceiling. If you have a cement floor, select one that suits this type of floor. If you have cinder block type of wall, you can also apply paint on it.

After applying the paint, you can now arrange all the things inside according to type and usage.

To organize and to avoid clutter, you can store items on storage cabinets. You can also use color coding in storing items by placing them in colorful plastic containers. There are also numerous shelves and cabinets available in stores to suit your needs. You can also place hooks of different sizes which you can utilize to hang objects, such as picture frames, old bags, decorative items, cables and many more.

After you have stored and organized all things, make sure to clean the garage regularly and avoid placing things anywhere to avoid clutter and to maintain orderliness and cleanliness.

Nopalea And The Mexican Flag

Category : Structures

By Frank Yaconis

Did you know that the global phenomenon of drinking Nopalea juice as a remedy for everything from hangovers to diabetes is nothing new? For centuries, natives of Mexico and other parts of North America have sought medicinal benefits from the prickly pear cactus.

In fact, the cactus is on the Mexican flag. Look closely and you can see the brilliant red flowers of the cactus where the eagle sits.

It is thought that use of the prickly pear cactus for food and medicine dates back to the time of the Aztecs. The cactus is also called Opuntia and Nopal or Nopales, which is how the juice derived its name of Nopalea.

Native Americans and Mexicans can probably trace use of the plant back to their ancestors.

When the cactus blooms, it erupts into gorgeous red, purple or yellow blossoms. The soaring cactus can reach up to 20 feet high. The Prickly Pear Cactus has been discovered to be an antioxidant rich plant that also contains anti-inflammatory properties. Researchers say that the prickly pear cactus is part of a few plant species that contain a pigment called betalains.

Betalains are a natural antioxidant and help detoxify the body. Ingesting juice and eating flesh from the cactus helps reduce cholesterol and blood sugar levels, as well. Betalains inhibit a special enzyme that otherwise is believed to increase inflammation in the body. Betalains are rare, but can be found in a few other foods, such as quinoa and beets. There are many studies to see if betalains can reduce inflammation in the body which would lead to its powerful affect on other serious diseases linked to inflammation such as cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.

In addition it is thought that many other serious conditions are caused by inflammation including arthritis, allergies and fibromyalgia.

There are thousands of ways to ingest the plant. One way is to eat the pads, which are called Nopalitos — meaning cactus stem. In addition, the fruit — or pear — of the cactus is edible. The beautiful pads are usually a green or purple and the fruit blossoms into yellow, red or purple flowers.

The pads can be grilled, boiled or fried and are said to taste a bit like green beans or asparagus. Some people like to serve the cactus as a vegetable so they don’t add many other ingredients, just a bit of butter or even vegetable or olive oil. The plant’s flesh is also used as a staple, like tortillas in other foods. It is made into a jelly. It is used in tacos, in candy making, you name it, you can find Nopal cactus in a variety of Mexican traditioanl foods.

You can cook them up and serve them like bacon with some eggs. The plant is added to salad. It is especiall popular to serve them with eggs, salsa and tortillas, much like you would see with huevos rancheros, except it would be called huevos con nopales.

Just like teh juice, the pads contain a host of nutritious properties, maybe even more than a vegetable would be. They are extremely fibrous — high in dietary fiber. In addition, the cactus is overflowing with numerous vitamins: A, B6, C and K. It also contains minerals including iron, potassium and magnesium.

Drinking Nopalea juice is a healthy, all natural way to get all these important vitamins and minerals and possibly prevent future diseases, all at the same time.

How Can Hgh Help You Lose Weight? Everything You Need To Know

Category : Structures

By Ryan Paulin

The pituitary gland in your brain produces an innate substance called the human growth hormone or HGH. Experts in medical science call it the master hormone because of the fact that it is in abundance in your youth but slowly diminishes as you grow older. By the time people reach the age of 40 it is almost guaranteed that the supply of HGH is scarce. At 80, you will be at least 90% HGH deficient. As a master hormone, HGH influences all parts of the body, playing a major role in the development of cells, muscles and organs. When you become deficient of HGH, the symptoms of aging become apparent. You will experience loss of muscle, diminishing energy, gaining of weight, reduced sexual drive, exposure to the risk of heart diseases, and a shortening of life expectancy.

Staying true to its function, a growth hormone medication can help people combat weight gain that naturally comes with old age. It might also be the answer to obese people who have been meaning to get rid of their extra body weight. You might be wondering how can HGH help you lose weight. Well, the human growth hormone operates by boosting the quantity of IGF-1 that your liver expels. The role of IGF-1 in your body is that, it blocks the insulin from conveying glucose into your cells. What normally happens after you eat is that, your pancreas discharges the required quantity of insulin needed for converting carbohydrates to glucose. You body stows the glucose in fat cells and utilizes it for energy. IGF-1 thats been induced by an HGH keeps insulin from depositing the glucose in cells compelling your body to use up fat for energy.

To establish how can HGH help you lose weight, a study was done on a group of obese people who have been injected with small doses of human growth hormone. It has been proposed that HGH helps people to lose weight without eradicating their muscle mass. Along with a low-dose HGH, the patients were advised to keep a calorie-restricted diet and maintain a physical exercise program. During the experiment, the patients either receive self-administered injection of low-dose HGH or placebo doses. After 6 months, participants who did not get real human growth hormone medication didnt see a change in their weight. Meanwhile, those who did receive low doses of HGH exhibited a five-pound decrease in their weight. The group who received growth hormone also demonstrated an improvement in their HDL or good cholesterol by 19 percent without altering the level of their LDL or bad cholesterol.

Because of the fact that HGH persuades your body to use up the fat for energy, your body still works to lose the extra weight even if youre not being active physically. Energy is important in your life as a breathing human being and HGH can push your body to get rid of the fat even in your sleep. HGH is the answer to those who dont want to be imposed by a restricted diet to lose weight because it allows you to consume large quantities of food without the additional problem of gaining extra weight. All in all, HGH is beneficial in terms of promoting weight loss and gaining strength. Whats more, it has been reported that the bad effects of HGH as an aid to lose weight is minimal and infrequent.

Cat Hairballs And What To Do About Them

Category : Structures

By Doris Canova

Cat hairballs are hair that was not digested, accumulated and coughed out. Cats will either pass hair through their digestive system or the hair will build up in their bodies causing the retching and heaving required to get rid of it. Cat hairballs are masses of fur that form in your cat’s stomach. They are one of the most common health problems of cats.

Hairballs are a normal phenomenon in cats and there are many ways to manage them. The three most common remedies to help decrease the frequency or size of hairballs are hairball lubricants, fiber supplements, and improved grooming. There are some dry commercial cat foods specially formulated for hairball remedy. The best way, of course, is prevention.

According to some vets who operates a large cat practice, the biggest problems with intestinal lubricants are not using enough each time or not using it frequently enough. In almost all cases, the most effective dose is a two-inch strip from the tube of lubricant twice daily for two days.

With regard to diet, usually, a higher fiber diet can assist in the passage of hair through the digestive tract. Additionally, some pet food companies manufacture food for cats with recurrent hair or fur ball problems. Ask your veterinarian about these. Be aware that most hairball diets on the market have 2-10 times the normal amount of fiber, which is potentially irritating to the tender lining of the gastrointestinal tract. If you try one of these foods, make the switch gradually, and be sure to watch closely for too-loose or too-dry stools; either may result.

Brushing your cat and helping with its grooming lowers the chance of it swallowing a lot of hair and will help keep its fur shiny, smooth, and free of tangles. The act of licking themselves helps to untangle and remove loose hair. Their tongues are specifically made for the task. Long-haired cats especially need more protection from hairballs.

Cats shed heavily in a change of season especially from winter to spring and summer. Shedding can also be caused by a lack of adequate diet and care. Most cats adore being gently brushed, so keep a cat brush next to each of your favorite chairs. When kitty jumps in your lap, the brush will be handy.

Hairballs can only be predicted once a cat starts retching and vomiting. We can only hope that the cat gets that blockage out without trouble. Hairballs are a common problem with cats simply because it is part of their nature to keep themselves clean. In fact there are very few animals that are so meticulous about keeping themselves clean as a cat. Hairballs are made up of all of the tiny hairs that the cat swallows while grooming.

As already stated, although vomiting may be a sign of hairballs, it may also be a sign of other problems, particularly if your cat doesn’t bring up hairballs or if it vomits more than about once a week. A visit to the veterinarian may be in order. Longhaired breeds especially need special attention. During the spring when all cats shed, daily brushing is most important.

If vomiting fails to expel a hairball, this hair can get lodged in the stomach or intestine where larger clumps of hair can build up. It can compact with undigested food in the stomach and gastrointestinal tract. Impactions are serious business, and sometimes must be removed surgically. At the very least, it could compact and cause constipation. Hairballs are considered the leading cause of constipation in cats.

Fatal Mistake: Why Your Dog Needs Vaccinations

Category : Structures

By Dawn Keadic

The canine distemper virus (CDV) causes a highly contagious disease in dogs known as distemper. Dogs who contract distemper suffer damage to their gastrointestinal, central nervous and respiratory systems. It’s vitally important to vaccinate against distemper as it is incurable and often fatal.

Puppies between the ages of three and six months are most susceptible to the disease, although older dogs can also contract distemper.

At one time, distemper was the leading cause of death among puppies that had not been vaccinated. Since the distemper vaccine was created in the early 60s, incidents of distemper and distemper related deaths have dropped considerably.

CDV is transmitted via airborne viral particles that dogs inhale. Infected dogs also shed the virus through bodily secretions and excretions. This is why it is so easy for an infected dog to cause the infection of another healthy dog.

Distemper causes a multitude of symptoms that include various respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms to central nervous system disorders. In fact, dogs that die as a result of distemper actually die from central nervous complications caused by the disease or from secondary bacterial infections.

Diagnosing distemper is difficult for a veterinarian to diagnose as blood tests are not helpful in detecting the presence of CDV. Successful diagnosis often relies on the ruling out of comparative disorders whose symptoms can often suggest the presence of CDV.

Because there is no cure for distemper, treatment for the disease is supportive and a vet will attempt to treat the symptoms as best as possible. A clean, warm, and draft free environment should be created and maintained to ensure the dog is as comfortable as possible. The eyes and nose should be kept free of discharge, and medication to treat diarrhea should be administered. Dogs suffering from distemper must be given plenty of fluids to help reduce fever and prevent dehydration. Other symptoms are treated as they appear if possible.

Like any viral disease, prevention is a much better and more successful option than treatment and the best option is vaccination during the early weeks of life. The distemper vaccination creates a long lasting immunity to the virus, but it is not permanent. Annual inoculations are recommended to maintain the dog’s immunity to distemper. Most puppies are given vaccinations that include distemper vaccine along with vaccines for several other diseases.
