4 Ways To Get A Great Floor Coating

Category : Construction

Find Out More About:

byAlma Abell

There are a lot of choices for floor coatings these days, but picking one without any basis or reasoning isn’t the best way to go about your search. If you want a good coating that’s durable, looks great, and lasts for years and years, then opt for epoxy flooring, says This Old House. After you’ve applied epoxy, here are some of the best tips to maintain your newly-coated floors:

Curing

Whether for commercial or residential purposes, make sure the floor cures before you use it, especially for areas with heavy foot-traffic. Some coatings can take about as many as 14 days to cure. Keep an eye on your floor for those two weeks and make sure no chemical spills and stains occur in that time. Resume any and all abrasive applications only after the two weeks are done.

Quality Materials

The quality of floor coatings is a factor too, so make sure you get top-of-the-line products from reliable sources. Never compromise on the quality of the products you use for your floor renovation project. Always insist on the best materials you can get at a reasonable cost.

Sweep Everyday

Dirt and grit can really take the shine away from your floors. You might walk on the floor dragging dirt or grit across, and before you know it, you’ll have a ton of scratches and scuffles on your newly coated floors. Keep that from happening by sweeping your floors on a daily basis.

Wipe Spills Quickly

Don’t let spills set in. Some people take too much time before mopping up spills. After all, it’s not going anywhere and if you’re in the middle of dinner, it can be a bit of a hassle to stop just to wipe a puddle on the floor. However, some substances can be harmful to the coating of your floor. If you want to keep your coat shiny and smooth as long as possible, make sure you clean up those spills right away.

Saudi Arabia blocks access to Blogger, Flickr, LiveJournal

Category : Uncategorized

Monday, October 10, 2005

The government of Saudi Arabia blocked access to Google‘s Web blogging service Blogger, Yahoo!‘s photo sharing website Flickr, and the diary service LiveJournal as well as some other websites through their nationally run Internet Services Unit (ISU) last Tuesday. As a result, English-speaking Saudis were prevented from publishing blogs, reading journals, or viewing pictures on Flickr.

The Saudi Arabian government uses a filtering service provided by the United States-owned company Secure Computing. Similar blocking services have been implemented in other countries, such as The People’s Republic of China.

In the past, the ISU had, on and off, blocked access to BlogSpot.com’s free hosting service. However, according to activist organization Reporters Without Borders, “blog services [applications] had not until now been affected by the ISU’s filters. The complete blocking of blogger.com, which is one of the biggest blog tools on the market, is extremely worrying. Only China had so far used such an extreme measure to censor the Internet.”

On Thursday, access to Blogger.com was restored, but Flickr and LiveJournal remained inaccessible. The ISU did not release any public statement about the blocking or restoration of service to any specific website.

Ukranian manufacturer preparing to sell Adolf Hitler dolls

Category : Uncategorized

Thursday, April 24, 2008

Correction — May 3, 2008 This article has been retracted. This article has been deemed a hoax. Please see the follow up article, Hitler doll story found to be hoaxed, for more information.

News reports are claiming that dolls depicting former Nazi leader Adolf Hitler will go on sale in Ukraine. These reports cite Ukraine’s Zerkalo Nedeli newspaper which reported that a toy manufacturer would release the line of Hitler dolls in the summer.

The 40cm doll will reportedly first be available in Kiev with a £100 (GBP) price tag and comes with a large range of accessories in a presentation box with the dates of Hitler’s birth and death.

Nazis images are illegal in Ukraine, with positive portrayal specifically banned. However, there are allegations that right-wing nationalist politics are gaining strength in the country and that xenophobia and racism are on the rise, including some said to be comparable to that present in Germany under Nazi rule. Fascism and propaganda are also banned.

When the former Soviet Union, including Ukraine, was invaded by Germany under Hitler’s rule 2–3 million Ukrainians were among the casualties, of which 1.5 million were Jews.

Adolf can be dressed in various guises, including “early days Adolf”, which consists of a brown shirt and jodhpurs, and “Wartime Adolf”, which features a grey tunic, black trousers and the Iron Cross medal. The doll also comes with boots and shoes, caps, gloves, full uniforms, cane and belt which can be placed on Hitler, whose arms move, allowing the doll to replicate the famed salute of its real life counterpart.

Kids can undress fuhrer, pin on medals and there’s a spare head in the kit to give him a kinder expression on his face

Also included is a model of Blondi, Hitler’s female German Shepherd, who was exceedingly loyal to Hitler. Hitler poisoned Blondi with cyanide in 1945 at the same time as taking his own life in his bunker at Berlin.

“It is like Barbie. Kids can undress fuhrer, pin on medals and there’s a spare head in the kit to give him a kinder expression on his face. He has glasses that are round, in the manner of pacifist John Lennon,” said one saleswoman. The company, which will release the dolls in Summer, says that if demand is high a range of toys themed on the Third Reich may be released, to include barracks, working models of crematoriums and gas chambers, concentration camps and interior models of the chancellery.

The doll is not set to be released until the summer, but BBC News Online has footage suggesting that some stores are selling the doll already.

Messi scores twice against ?ech, Bayern draw against Juventus in Champions League Last 16

Category : Uncategorized

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Yesterday, in the Last 16 round of the UEFA Champions League 2015–2016, Spanish football club FC Barcelona defeated London-based club Arsenal F.C. 2–0 — Lionel Messi scoring both of those at the Emirates Stadium. Munich-based club Bayern Munich were held to a 2–2 draw against Italian club Juventus FC in the Juventus Stadium.

Barcelona is a great team[…] We put a lot of energy in the game and technically we were very average.

At London, Barcelona had a greater ball possession against The Gunners. The match saw two yellow cards. Unbeaten in their last 32 games, Barça were not able to net goals for more than an hour. Arsène Wenger’s team Arsenal held the defending champions, and it took 49 minutes for the Catalonians to have one shot on target. In the 71st minute, Barcelona won the ball and began counter-attacking, where Messi–Suárez–Neymar, the MSN trio, broke the deadlock as the Argentine Messi scored his first goal against Czech goalkeeper Petr ?ech.

In the 83rd minute, Mathieu Flamini who was just subbed in brought the Argentine down in the penalty area and the visitors won a penalty. Messi scored his second of the night leaving the English side facing an uphill battle. Arsenal have been eliminated in the Last 16 round five consecutive times. After the match, Wenger told BT Sport “Barcelona is a great team[…] We put a lot of energy in the game and technically we were very average.”

Barcelona in their last 33 unbeaten games have netted 100 goals. Arsenal are to play the second leg at Camp Nou on March 16.

In the other fixture of the night, between Bayern Munich and Juventus, the Germans had better ball possession. Thomas Müller and Arjen Robben put the visitors 2–0 up, netting in the 43rd and the 55th minute respectively. But after the hour mark, Paulo Dybala and Stefano Sturaro brought Juventus level by scoring in the 63rdand the 76th minutes, and the first leg finished in a 2–2 draw. The match saw four bookings, three for the visitors.

Juventus continued their unbeaten streak of now seventeen home matches in European competition since defeat in 2013 against Bayern Munich.

Thought-controlled cybernetic arms demonstrated

Category : Uncategorized

Friday, September 15, 2006

Jesse Sullivan has two cybernetic arms, after electrical burns suffered while working as an electrical utility lineman resulted in amputation of both his arms at the shoulder. Claudia Mitchell has a similar cybernetic left arm, after a motorcycle accident resulted in amputation. Sullivan and Mitchell shook hands with these thought-controlled prosthetic arms at an event staged Thursday in Washington, D.C. by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and Center for Artificial Limbs at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

Unlike traditional prosthetic limbs, these are actuated through muscle reinnervation; nerves are grafted onto specific muscles, controlling their contraction, which are then detected by electrode sensors and control the prosthetic limb. “Basically it is connecting the dots. Finding the nerves. We have to free the nerves and see how far they reach,” says Dr. Todd Kuiken, developer of the prostheses and director of neuroengineering at the Rehabilitation Institute. By this chain of communication the prostheses utilize thought-controlled biomechanics. According to Sullivan, “When I use the new prosthesis I just do things. I don’t have to think about it … I do all the yard work. I take out the garbage.”

DARPA, as an agency of the United States Department of Defense, seeks to eventually provide such prostheses for soldiers losing their organic limbs in combat. “We’re excited about collaborating with the military,” said Kuiken. 411 U.S. troops in Iraq and 37 in Afghanistan have had wounds that cost them at least one limb according to the Army Medical Command.

Stabilization In The Market For Homes For Sale In Las Vegas, Nv

Category : Property Management

byalex

Things are finally starting to look up in Las Vegas. Job numbers are starting to look better and better each month. There have been big gains in leisure services, which for Las Vegas is a huge indicator for recovery. As a result, home prices are beginning to stabilize because more and more people are now able to afford a new home. They may not be able to afford as much as they once did, but they can certainly afford a home again, which is huge for the long term recovery of the Las Vegas housing market.

Having stabilized home prices in Las Vegas will be the single biggest key to improving the number of homes for salesin Las Vegas, NV. Now potential buyers can proceed to purchase a home in Las Vegas with the confidence that they will not be upside down on their home mortgage within a few years. It is that fear that has depressed sales so much. Even if buyers were fully qualified to purchase a home they were actually pretty hesitant to do so because of the fear of falling home prices. For many, it was actually a smart financial move to just rent a home or apartment until the housing market stabilized some.

Buyer’s Market

Today there are so many homes for sale Las Vegas, NV that there is still more supply than demand. With the stabilizing home prices, this should and will tilt into a more favorable balance. More buyers will come in, and the surplus inventory of new homes will shrink. Recovery is on the way, but it will take awhile to reach it. Some analysts are predicting decades of recovery to ever get back to a balance.

Get Experienced Help Finding a Home

To help make an informed decision a buyer or seller is well advised to employ the professional expertise of a real estate agent or company. This should not just be any person. A real estate agent should never be hired until a thorough background check has been made. This includes checking for testimonials and recommendations from previous clients, checking their listing history and past homes sold; the average length of time that these properties remained on the market, and what they charge in commissions.

Most real estate agents do not make it easy to find out what they normally charge for their listing or agent fees are. Commission rates are not always set in stone. Some real estate agents are open to negotiation of their commission rates in order to secure a contract agreement. Now one caveat to all of this is if the real estate agent is both the listing and the selling agent. In this case, they are almost always willing to negotiate since there are less over-all fees involved here.

Costello Realty & Management is a respected property management and is experienced when it comes to homes for sale in Las Vegas, NV.
